About this Item

Moretonhampstead, Devon. The Flyfisher's Classic Library. 2001. Deluxe Edition. Number 40 of 100 copies. Signed by Frederick Buller. 8vo. (9 x 6). 214 pp. Illustrated color frontispiece. Color plates of the Dame's twelve flies, natural baits, and watercolors. Black and white plates. Text illustrations and diagrams. A modern English rendering of the Treatyse. With contributions from Jack Heddon, Malcolm Greenhalgh, David Beazley, Denys Ovenden and Professor Stephen Downes. A remarkable book, that for the first time clearly and with empirical evidence demonstrates the likelihood that the Dame lived and fished the streams near Sopwell Hall. There is also the counter point-of-view in this book which casts some doubt on her existence and subsequent contributions. As for me, I'm rolling along in the Dame's corner. If you are interested in the history of the sport of fishing, particularly fly fishing, and enjoy exemplary research and a good story, then you should read this book. By far the most important, original book published by The Flyfishers' Classic Library, in my opinion. Bound in full burgundy Wassa goatskin with gilt titles and decorations on the spine. All edges gilt. Silk ribbon marker. Burgundy cloth slip case. A beautiful example. Fine in a fine slip case. Bookseller Inventory # 006780

Shipping Terms:

Orders usually ship within 2 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required. My chosen shipping option is the U. S. Postal Service. USPS is the best in terms of service and cost efficiency even though recent overseas rates, effective January 2013, have skyrocketed. USPS requires mails sent overseas and Canada can ONLY be sent by AIRMAIL. Charged at actual cost. Other overseas shipping options are available, such as UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.; however, they are frightfully expensive.
