Synopsis: Dan Witz: In Plain View 30 Years of Artworks Illegal and Otherwise is the first and long overdue monograph on the work of Dan Witz.
In his 30-year career, Dan Witz has specialized in a smaller, more intimate kind of street art. For Witz, a sense of wonder and curiosity is the key, as well as the element of discovery.
Strongly influenced by the changing cultural landscape of the New York City streets where he developed his craft, Witz has traveled the path from dark to light and back again. His monograph is a study in both the man and his art, with chapters chronicling the transformation from a derelict Lower East Side to a shiny new Gotham. The book is beautifully illustrated in 250 color photographs and narrated through an interview with the Wooster Collective.

Book Description Gingko Press June 2010, 2010. Hardcover. Condition: Used - Very Good. The gamut of Dan Witz's output over the past thirty years is truly amazing. Containing the raw power and range of the work in a book is a nearly impossible task as the artist's work rails against constraints conceptual or practical. This being said, his growth as an artist is a joy to observe and this long overdue monograph will hopefully bring his work to the fore. Witz is a deeply cerebral artist, yet suspicious of overly intellectual or inaccessible art. These contradictory tendencies give him his edge, whether in the studio or the streets. Dan Witz has enjoyed one of the most sustained and influential careers in street art and the output of his studio practice is equally stunning and dynamic, an integral part of his bi-lobal method.
