About the Author: Gayle Westmoreland is the author of Hands: Stop Shaking Them! A Cultural Shift to End Handshaking In America. The book was published in 2007, and its message resonated around the world. So many people want to stop shaking hands, but they fear the social impact of taking a stand. The author now reaches out to the global stage proffering an easy plan to replace the handshake with a simple alternative. Gayle Westmoreland earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Morgan State University and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. She is retired from a career in the telecommunications industry and works occasionally as a contractor. She was published previously in the Baltimore Sun, and she is the author of two books of poetry. In her leisure time, the author enjoys reading, writing poetry and prose, traveling, and tennis.
