About this Item

Deluxe first edition: SIGNED by Bukowski on the colophon and with a signed original painting of a face by Bukowski bound in as the recto following the title page; one of 100 such copies, this being #69. Dark blue cloth with gray and orange speckles over printed paper covered boards with printed paper label on the spine; this hardcover binding is clean and holding tight. The interior and text are clean and unmarked. The original acetate dustjacket is clear and crisp. The painting exhibits some light natural craquelure to the surface in a few places where the paint was especially thick, but all the paint is very stable, and the painting is vibrant and evocative - much more so than his abstract work. An especially nice copy with original Bukowski art. 281pp. Krumhansl 71d. Bookseller Inventory # 006824

About this title

More than a hundred poems about writing, mortality, the nature of success, and the relationship between men and women

About the Author:

Charles Bukowski is one of America’s best-known contemporary writers of poetry and prose and, many would claim, its most influential and imitated poet. He was born in 1920 in Andernach, Germany, to an American soldier father and a German mother, and brought to the United States at the age of two. He was raised in Los Angeles and lived there for over fifty years. He died in San Pedro, California, on March 9, 1994, at the age of seventy-three, shortly after completing his last novel, Pulp.
