These 3 Bibles represent 3 generations of the Buel Family with each Bible having family records. The 1769 Bible belonged to David Buel (1747-1836) and his wife Rachel McNeile (McNeil) Buel (1753-1826) of Troy, N.Y. This Bible is in poor, incomplete condition, with the first page being Gen. Chap. 37, Line 9, and lacking pages after Psalm 125. Both worn leather covers are detached with a worn spine, and some pages torn and pieces missing. There are 2-1/3 pages of family records written on blank pages around the New Testament title page. David and Rachel's 1771 marriage is recorded, as are 7 birth dates and 5 death dates of their 7 children who were born between 1778 and 1792: Mary Harvey Buel, Sally Buel, Alexander McNeile Buel, David Buel Jr., Samuel Buel, Charlotte Buel, and Mary Delia Buel. The deaths of 2 relations and a grandchild, and the birth of another grandchild in 1807 are also recorded. The 1814 Bible belonged to David Buel's son David Buel Jr. (1784-1860) and his wife Harriet (Hillhouse) Buel (1792-1866) of Troy, N.Y. The front cover is detached and the spine is chipped. Both preliminary and ending pages have browning / smoking to the edges. The inner front cover is signed by David Buel Junr. There are 9 full pages of family records. The 1814 marriage of David and Harriet is recorded as well as the marriages of 5 of their children which took place between the years of 1838 and 1860. The births of their 9 children are recorded in detail, with the time of birth, baptism date, minister performing the baptism, sometimes the church, and in 3 cases who they were named for, being recorded. Their 9 children were born between 1815 and 1838 being: Samuel Buel, David Hillhouse Buel, John Griswold Buel, Charlotte Elizabeth Buel, Sarah Buel, Abraham Van Vechten Buel, Clarence Buel, Hampden Buel, and Oliver Prince Buel. Also recorded are 13 grandchildren: Children of Samuel Buel and Jane Eliza Wilmer: David Hillhouse Buel, William Milner Buel, Richard Hooker Buel, and Samuel Buel, born between 1839 and 1845. Children of David Hillhouse Buel and Mary Mayo: David Buel and Josepha Atkinson Buel, born in 1858 and 1860. Children of Hampden Buel and Emma Louisa Wills(?): Albert Wells Buel, Harriet Hillhouse Buel, Mary Ann Hillhouse Buel, David Buel, Emma Louisa Buel, and Charlotte Lockwood Buel, who were born between 1861 and 1870. The child of Charlotte Buel and Henry C. Lockwood was Harriet Buel Lockwood, born in 1862. The 1854 Bible belonged to the Rev. Clarence Buel (1830-1915) and his wife Laura Emmot (Davis) Buel, who were married in 1863. This Bible is in very good condition with a brass clasp. There are 2 full pages of the family record, with 2 additional pages of entries. The birth dates of their 5 children who were born betwen 1864 and 1872 are recorded together with 3 death dates: Edward Davis Buel, Joanna Davis Buel, Grace Angela Buel, David Clarence Buel, and Emmot Davis Buel. Also recorded is the 1898 marriage of Grace A Buel to Percy D. Dwight in 1898, and the birth dates of 3 of their children: Laura Emmot Dwight (1899), Lucretia Howe Dwight (1900-1902), and Frances Howe Dwight in 1903. Size: 4to - over 9" - 12" tall.
