About this Item

Acceptable green cloth Hardcover with gilt lettering to spine, black lettering and photograph to front cover. This copy belonged to Mrs. E. M. Wherry, author of Chapter X "Training of Converts" (Signed in pencil on front flyleaf by "Mrs. E. M. Wherry", wife of the noted scholar of Christian/Islamic issues E. M. Wherry; Wherry's initials are misspelled "C. M." in the text, and Wherry has made a pencil mark next to the chapter title in the table of contents, and has crossed out the "C" on the title page of her chapter, replacing it with an "E"). Cover has gotten wet: front and spine are streaked with stains, and the back cover is spotted with stains. The photo on the front cover has also been scraped in its lower-left corner. The lettering and photograph are still clear, though. The text block however, is in near-perfect condition (it did not get wet), tightly bound & clear of markings (save for a the aforementioned corrections by Wherry). Endpapers are tanned with age. Numerous beautiful photographic plates. 224 pages. Bookseller Inventory # 010530
