About this Item

Circa 1920. Two Volumes. Later edition. Black cloth with red trim. Pages are edged in red. Illustrations. Two volumes. Ink notation front end paper of Volume II. Guide book. In the Preface the author notes: "The following excursions are given in the order in which they encircle Paris, beginning with S. Cloud". Page 1 begins: "There are four ways of reaching S. Cloud. 1. The pleasantest is to drive through the Bois de Boulogne, which is very enjoyable. or (2) to take the American tramway. 3. By the steamers (only in summer). 4. By rail from the Gare S. Lazare." Chapter 2 describes a visit to Versailles: "Summer visitors to Versailles should, if possible, be there on a Sunday when the grandes eaux are playing. This fairy scene is advertised in the newspapers. Nothing can prevent a visit to Versailles from being exceedingly fatiguing. There is too much to be seen for one day." Some other cities featured are Rueil, Malmaison, and Marly; S. Denis, Enghien, and Montmorency; S. Leu Taverny, the Abbaye du Va l, and Pontoise; Chantilly and Senlis; etc. Bookseller Inventory # 3447
