Errata page with 2 items, and half-page errata sheet with 11 items. Title vignette shows hook on left hand of Captain Cuttle; p. xv: no quote marks on "party." P. 14, no apostrophe in "ain't"; p. 26 "fidgetty;" p. 40, "shew" and "shewed," p. 284 "Delight" not "Joy," p. 547 "dark plate:" p. 582, no period at last line. With twelve plates bound in at the front, showing the characters. Of these four are drawn by Hablot Knight brown and engraved by H.E. Browne and R. Young, The others are signed HKB and dated 1848 with the imprint of Chapman & Hall. Foxing to several plates; light wear to extremities of half-leather and marbled boards; gilt leather spine expertly rebacked. A sound, tight, attractive copy of the first book edition.
