About this title

Synopsis:

Did you grow up without your father? Are you tired of trying to fill an empty void in your life but can’t seem to find the right path to get on? If you’ve answered yes, then Ikeshia Capre’s Dear Dad, I Broke the Cycle: A Grown Woman’s Guide to Getting over an Absentee Father is an open letter to her father that explains her hardships growing up and transitioning into womanhood without his presence. She goes into great detail about her failed relationships and the financial and emotional instability she faced while living with her mother. In addition, Ikeshia has included an 11 step guide to help women make the right choices when trying to fill the void for the absence of their father and finding purpose in their own life.

About the Author:

Ikeshia Capre was born and raised in Canton, Ohio. She grew up in a single-parent home with her mother and her sister. She is 29 years old, and she currently works for a Child Protective Services Agency. Ikeshia obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in Human Development Family Studies with a concentration in Case Management, and she is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Social Work at Case Western Reserve University located in Cleveland, Ohio. Ikeshia wrote her phenomenal story to reveal how she looked for love in all the wrong places, attempted suicide as a teenager, and lived with her mother who depended on the welfare system as a primary survival source. Ikeshia hopes her story will empower women who grew up without their fathers and prevent them from becoming a product of their environment. Moreover, she hopes they will use the guide to take a step into the right direction and be the woman God called them to be.
