About this title

Synopsis:

A Rafferty and Llewelyn Mystery - When local loan shark John Jaws Harrison is found with his skull caved in in an alleyway backing on to rundown Primrose Avenue, DCI Joe Rafferty, and dour sidekick Dafyd Llewellyn, imagine the case will be easily solved. Armed with a list of local debtors, they begin their investigations. But they hadnt counted on the apparent consensus of silence amongst the residents most of whom had good reason to want Jaws dead . . .

From the Author:

As DI Joe Rafferty and Abra are in the middle of organising their wedding, with all the incredible expense that entails, it seemed natural to set the storyline around the theme of debt; I've been there myself and know all about its misery and how easy it is to get entangled with huge interest-charging sharks. I was lucky and managed to avoid the sharks and climb out from under. But many people aren't so fortunate.

Since Rafferty's bride-to-be climbed aboard HMS Romance amid dreams of exotic honeymoons, bridal gowns of endless trailing silk, seating plans for four hundred and the Lord knows what other extravagant fripperies, she seems intent on spending the equivalent of the National Debt and rivaling the pomp of Princess Diana's wedding. Rafferty seeing the costs spiralling out of control, and, during his latest murder investigation, witnessing the desperation and despair of debtors, tries some ingenious methods to cut the wedding costs so he doesn't end up as impoverished as most of the suspects. Only he'd rather Abra didn't find out about his nefarious schemes to keep their spending low-level. She wouldn't appreciate the cut-price wedding Rafferty is trying to arrange...
