Book Description Tom Stacey Ltd, London, 1971. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Reprint. First published by Collins in 1938, this is a reprint edition of 1971. Some edge wear and chipping to top and bottom of jacket and spine, 2" closed tear to top of spine, corners rubbed with small loss, not price clipped (£1.80), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg+ copy for its age. 284pp, illustrated. 'Death from a Top Hat' is a locked room novel written by the now largely forgotten American mystery writer Clayton Rawson (1906-71). It is the first of four mysteries featuring The Great Merlini, a stage magician and Rawson's favorite protagonist. In a poll of 17 detective story writers and reviewers, this novel was voted as the seventh best locked room mystery of all time. Quite scarce, even in this later impression. Invaluable for all amateur magicians. Seller Inventory # 002953
