Book Description Harvill Press, 1954. First edition. Louis MacNeice's copy, with his pencilled ownership signature on front pastedown and note '? J. Lehmann' on rear panel of dust jacket. MacNeice referred to the book in a letter to John Lehmann, in June 1954: 'I have just been sent another book which you might be interested in and which I should be quite prepared to review - The Death of a Town by Kay Cicellis, whom I think you know about. This consists of four pieces, the longest of which (the title piece) is a remarkable recreation of the great earthquake in Cephallonia last year.' Francis Wyndham eventually reviewed it for the October issue of Lehmann's magazine, 'The London Review'. Seller Inventory # 3677
