New York: no date, circa 1860's. Bound in half leather with marbled boards. Each story varies between 100 or 96 pages, with the first two having illustrations in black and white. Publisher's ads present on the verso of several title pages. 13 dime novels bound in one volume. Although purporting to be true, these novels were loosely based on the life of Claude Duval (or Du Vall, or Du Val), a French born highwayman active in England in the mid 1600's. He was eventually executed for his robberies. FAIR/GOOD condition. Front and rear covers tenuously attached to the binding. Heavy scuffing to the boards, leather spine and extremities. Text block solid, with scattered minor to moderate foxing throughout. Light scattered soiling. Previous owner's name in red pencil on the first endpaper. Bookseller Inventory # 004841
