Synopsis: A collection of photos from RJ Shaughnessy, chronicles his life at the infamous Los Angeles art collective Deathcamp. Located in a quiet Los Angeles suburb, he shared residence with over a dozen characters from 2002 to 2006, capturing the energy and naivette of the misguided artisans. Representing Shaughnessy's perspective of his time spent there, the images focus on beautiful moments of intimacy amongst roommates and the people they brought into each other's lives. Caught between youth and adulthood, his photos offer an honest portrayal of his subjects: fun as priority, wasted nights, and romantic pursuits.
About the Author: RJ Shaughnessy was born and raised in Hollywood, Florida. He moved to Hollywood, California at the age of 21 and earned a BFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, in 2004.
