Synopsis: · Called La Divina, Maria Callas was an internationally renowned opera diva, known for her iconic performances of ‘Tosca’ and ‘Norma’
· Leonard Bernstein called Callas ‘the Bible of opera’
· This book is the most comprehensive and luxury visual biography of the legend that is Maria Callas, with never-before-seen intimate letters, personal photographs, and Callas’s private collection of recipes

Maria Callas is the definition of an icon.

Perhaps the most renowned and influential opera singer of all time, she is revered not just for her otherworldly voice and dramatic flair but for her passion, beauty and innate sense of style. The fire and intensity of her personal life paralleled the dramatic roles she interpreted so passionately.

Working closely with the Fondaziono Proge Marzotto, the Italian arts trust who acquired the archive of Maria Callas in 2013; and Karl van Zoggel, head of the International Maria Callas Club, ROADS is delighted to present The Definitive Maria Callas: The Life of a Diva in Unseen Pictures. A lavish visual biography, the books showcases never-before-seen intimate letters, personal photographs and Callas’s private collection of recipes.

A comprehensive and joyous exploration of the life and work of Maria Callas, it is the perfect book for opera aficionados and casual admirers alike.

Review: The photos in this book are amazing, mixed with black and white and colored photos. There is a nice balance between real life photos and photos of her in her home and in costume. It reminds me of the season of life I got to wear costumes while performing in Houston. It's definitely from another world and it quickly transported me. (Opera Singer in the Kitchen November 15, 2016)

Her great flashing dark eyes, her exaggerated 1950s high-fashion makeup and, above all, her dramatic mid-career weight loss generated dozens of unforgettable images in studio and candid photographs. These photos, along with a number of fascinating lesser-known ones of the diva, are anthologized in a lavish coffee table book. (Observer)
