About this Item

Small 8vo. Green cloth with gilt lettering and decorations. 287pp. Top edge gilt. Very good. A bit edgeworn, mainly at head and tail of spine, with front hinge a tad rough. Tight, decent first edition of this important early title by the noted Chicago art collector and art critic (1859-1920), one of the earliest and most influential supporters of cubism and post-impressionism. Other than the title phrase, the other lectures are titles "Delight in the Thought: Sincerity and Conviction," "Delight in the Thought: Inspiration," "Delight in the Symbol: Expression" and "Delight in Labor: The End." A scarce title. Bookseller Inventory # 36825
