the inscription is "For dear Milly from Alexandra" and the image shows the Queen with her grandchildren the daughters of the Duchess of Fife, Alexandra and Maud, she is seated on a sofa and the girls are wearing white frilly dresses and draped around her lap, 12�" x 7�", no place, Xmas the mount has been trimmed on the bottom edge obscuring the photographer's name but enough remains to identify it It is possible that the 'Milly' is Millicent Sutherland-Leveson-Gower, Duchess of Sutherland,1867-1955 who was a society hostess and social reformer.
