The first American edition of the author's first book. Anne Louise Germaine de Stael-Holstein (1766-1817) was a French speaking Swiss author who came from an powerful political family. Married to the Swedish diplomat and living in Coppet, Switzerland (family estate) and Paris where she had influence and held a salon.
