About this Item

Two volumes in one, sequentially numbered. Octavo in what appears to be a reconstructed contemporary binding as the front board is tree calf and the rear board is somewhat ornately tooled palin calf; hubbed spine, also plain calf, with gilt imprinted label "Clarkes Demons.". Front board reattached at an early date paper tape, no front endpapers; (xx being the Preface and Contents) + 454 pp. + pp. 457 to 502 being the fourth edition of "Several Letters to the Reverend D. Clarks from a Gentleman in Gloucestershire. Relating to the First Volume of the Foregoing Sermons; with the Dr's Answers Thereunto" + one leaf of publisher's ads. No rear endpapers. Front board worn and chipped about the edges, rear board not so much, spine and title label with some scuffing a small chips. Admittedly not a great copy but a desireable title priced accordingly.
