London: Printed for T. And J. Allman., 1818. cxviii,225pp. folding map frontis., illus. Later 3/4p polished calf and marbled boards, gilt-ornamented raised spine bands, black morocco spine label. Faint scattered foxing, else very good or better. Sabin 22029, notes "The copies we have seen read 'Second Edition' before 'London,' in addition to the words 'New Edition." That is not true of this copy. The introduction gives an account of the discovery and settlement of Greenland in the 9th century by Eric the Red and of the voyages that followed. Includes descriptions of animals, birds, and fish as well as the occupations of Greenlanders and how they live. With the bookplate of noted Philadelphia book and print collector, Joseph Y. Jeanes.
