Brown cloth boards, blind stamped with title gilt on spine. Published circa 1850. Boards have moderate wear and soiling; contemporary manuscript on front endpaper reading "Bloomfield S[? ] Library [? ]"; text block has moderate foxing and toning throughout; text block has a few tears to fore edge. Published for a younger audience, this book contains information on the deserts of the world. Divided into three chapters, it includes the Sahara, the deserts of Arabia, and the Great Basin of California. The chapter concerning the Great Basin contains an extract from Fremont's 1843-1844 expedition. As of September 2018 only one copy in OCLC with different publisher. ; B&W Illustrations; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 67 pp.
