Green cloth case with stricking B&W illustrations of the southern California deserts, mainly of Mojave Desert. Photographs were taken between 1920 and 1934. Gayle Pickwell was a professor of zoology at San Jose State University, and these photographs show her interest in desert flora and fauna. Inscribed the the author's wife on the inside flap: "Property of Mrs. Gayle Pickwell" with address. Gilt titles to the front of case and spine. Small previous owner's sticker above inscription, belonging to family member - Clarice Pickwell. Remains of sticker small to front of case.
