Maroon cloth in unclipped jacket. 283 pp. A firsthand account of life in Paris during World War I, reflecting and reporting on news of battles, politics between countries, daily life and other aspects of wartime living, written by a high ranking staff member of the US embassy in Paris, France at that time. John Gardner Coolidge was an American diplomat, serving as minister to Nicaragua, as well as being in charge of Ottoman interests while in Paris during WWI (from his diary). Coolidge sailed on the Lusitania to get to France. VERY GOOD condition. Uneven fading, with some dark scuffs to the rear jacket panel. Minor edgewear. Light general fading and edgewear to the book.
