xi, 117 pp, Foreword by Carl Sandburg, Prefatory Notes by F. Lauriston Bullard, Editor's Note [Diary]; The Diary of a Public Man; Editor's Note [Political Correspondence] A Page of Political Correspondence; Biographical Data with four illustrations: Facsimile, The North American Review; Allen Thorndike Rice, Editor; Edwin M. Stanton, Secretary of War; and James Buchanan, 15th President. A Limited Edition of 500 copies printed at the Norman Press on Cortlea on ivory paper. The hand decorated paper used for binding was made by R. Hunter Middleton. Completed at Chicago, during the month of January 1945. Ex library with only small stamp at upper left corner of front pastedown, a small section location stamp at bottom margin of table of contents, and a perforated stamp on title page. Minor edge wear with a few minute rubbed spots to boards, else, Pristine, no wear. Clean, tight and strong binding with no underlining, highlighting or marginalia. Red half-cloth over grey decorated paper-covered boards, gilt lettering to front board and spine, and map on endpapers. Size: 8vo. Bookseller Inventory # 000792
