Description:

The first eyewitness report of Warsaw Jewish community's destruction, first published in Hebrew in 1946 on poor quality paper and in a limited edition, this is a later edition. Dr. Hillel Seidman (1914-1995) served as secretary of 'Agudat Israel' and its Jewish members of the Polish Sejm between the two world wars, and was a close associate of the Jewish community leaders of Poland and Lithuania, such as Rabbi Israel Meir Kagan ('Chafetz Chaim'), Rabbi Avraham Mordechai Alter, Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski, and others. With the outbreak of World War II he became a leader of the Jewish community in Warsaw, and the director of the community archive. During the Holocaust he documented the Warsaw Ghetto daily events in his diary. After the war he assisted to war refugees and afterwards immigrated to USA, where he was a close associate of many prominent figures of American Jewry, such as Rabbi Yosef Eliyahu Henkin, Joseph Ber (Yosef Dov) Soloveitchik, and Menachem Mendel Schneerson.
