About this Item

274pp. Burgundy cloth with gilt on spine, gilt-stamped Capitol Building-like illustration on front cover, surrounded by elaborate patterned design elements; light lime endpapers; rubbing at extremities; last page of text (Index) and second flyleaf at rear were uncut, like the preceding pages, but were poorly cut, so as to leave a few bits of unevenness to rear fly--relatively minor, but there you have it. Extremities lightly worn, with only a bit of minor fraying, else just lightening of darker burgundy. At middle of front fly an inscription of Corinne Danforth [from Oklahoma) indicating that the book was a gift to her from Alexander Corbett, dated 1928. Corbett, evidently was a star Crickett player in his day and Danforth a 20-something at the time of the gift. Danforth annotated several pages in pencil, providing instructive commentary on points in the text. Inscribed and signed by the author on the half-title page: "With best wishes for 1929 Edward F. Payne Dec. 31, 1928". Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. Bookseller Inventory # 004399
