Large crown4to, engraved folding frontis of Boyer, red and black title to part 1 in French, red and black title to part 2 in English. Unpaginated. With the Preface to the 1699 edition and the Booksellers advertisement to this new edition in French in part 1 similarly in English in part 2. The advertisement complains about several unauthorised Dutch editions. With the "Alphabetical list of the most common Christian names of men and women, in French and English" page. Half title before part II, with the stricture from Queen Caroline forbidding reprinting for 14 years, on the verso. With the "Explanation of the marks and abbreviations made use of in this work" page with the advertisement dated June 6. 1729 on the verso offering "French, Dutch and English tought after a most easy and expeditious method, by Zach. Loquet, both at Gentlemens Houses, and his own Lodgings" With the "Abbreviations of English Christian Names used in familiar discourse" page at the end. Full brown calf, 5 raised bands outlined with gilt rules. Lacking a 4 inch strip of calf across the middle of the upper board, similarly a half inch strip from the bottom of the rear board, head and tail of backstrip and corners showing, small ink blotches on fore edge and a few pages, fore edge of frontispiece bruised with three small tears, otherwise a very clean text, sound hinges ex libris Adare Manor with the Wyndham crest on the verso of the ffep and "Thomas Wyndham / his French Dictionary / Nov. ye 4th/1734/1734/ / Nov. ye 4th/1734/1734/(sic)" on the front pastedown and the ffep.
