C., August 1st, 1898. It was at that time called the Fire Baptized Holiness Association of America. There were 140 representatives from various parts of the United State and Dominion of Canada and Mexico and I, W. E. Fuller, your humble servant, was the only colored among them. .at the expiration of ten years we met again at the above named place, Anderson, S. C., May 1, 1908, and owing to the growing prejudice that began to arise among the unsaved people, it was mutually agreed that we have separate incorporations.' (p. 7) -- C. E. Jones, Black Holiness, cites only the 1966 Discipline (no. 731, 734) and gives some history of founding under senior bishop W. E. (William Edward) Fuller, 1875-1958 (p. 111 f.).; `.a teaching developed in the 1890s in the Midwest and South holding that while the second work purified the vessel, a third, the baptism of fire, was necessary to fill it.Although the fall in 1900 of its white leader,Benjamin Hardin Irwin, largely discredited the movement, the baptism of fire teaching opened the way for belief in a third-crisis experience. In 1908 the remnant of Irwin's fire-baptized movement, having accepted the tongues- centered teaching a year previously, blessed their black brethren in forming a new church.under W.E. Fuller, one of Irwin's early converts.' (p.83 f.) Good, side-stapled, in lt. dampstained & edgeworn green wrapper. Bookseller Inventory # 021203
