About the Book

Bibliographic Details

Title: Discours Sur le Prejuge des Pienes ...

Publisher: Cuchet / Merigot

Publication Date: 1784

Binding: Hardcover

Book Condition: Good

Edition: First Edition.

Two titles in one. Paris, 1784. 8vo, 371 + 2 pp. for M. Lacratelle, Amsterdam, 60 pp. for Robespierre. Two very scarce title's from Robespierre's early political career. Robespierre co-wrote the Lacratelle title. Lacratelle was born in Metz, the elder brother of Jean Charles Dominique de Lacretelle. He practised as a barrister in Paris. In 1784 he shared a prize for this award-winning essay with Maximilien Robespierre. Under the French Revolution he was elected as a député suppléant in the Constituent Assembly, and later as a deputy in the Legislative Assembly. Text is in very good condition. Stamps to preliminary page. The Robespierre title is in poor condition with a large tear through the entire text block, but is still attached in the binding. Original polished calf binding remains attractive, though it is torn at the hinge. OCLC 630445289 and 606436510. Bookseller Inventory # SP255
