About this Item

333pp. Octavo [24 cm] Blue cloth covered boards with the title stamped in bold gilt on the spine and front cover. Illustrated. Very good. The covers are ever so slightly cocked, and there is a presentation label on the front pastedown. The dust jacket is in near fine condition. From the dust jacket- "Philo T. Farnsworth's all-electronic television ranks with Edison's phonograph and Bell's telephone. His contributions to our culture have forever transformed the way we live. This book tells the story of a dreamer blessed with ability to make his dreams come true." Not only did Farnsworth produce the first exclusively electronic television picture in San Francisco on September 7, 1927, but he also went on to pursue even more daring work, when in the 1960's he designed and constructed a device capable of producing nuclear fusion.
