Synopsis: Summarizes the divorce laws of all fifty states and the District of Columbia, and covers residency requirements, grounds, property distribution, alimony, child custody, child support, and mediation requirements
From Library Journal:
Published as part of Nova's legal self-help series, this work contains attorney Sitarz's thumbnail digest of each state's divorce laws under 15 categories. The categories include pleading details (court of jurisdiction, style of the divorce action, and the parties) and substantive law (grounds for separation and divorce, alimony, and child support/custody). Unlike Divorce Laws: State by State ( LJ 7/1/90), which collects the actual statutory language, Sitarz, also author of the self-help guide Divorce Yourself ( LJ 6/15/90), rephrases the statutory provisions to make them easier to understand. Spot-checking these summaries for accuracy and currency against state-released references revealed no inaccuracies or outdated information. Still, family law changes rapidly, making any source unable to be up to the minute. Nevertheless, this book is recommended as a quick overview of state divorce laws.
