About this title

Dixiana Moon is a fast-paced, high-energy comic celebration of Southern-fried Americana. It's the madcap, manic-depressive story of Joe Mahaffey, irrepressible optimist, fast-talking his way from the Catskills to Danceland to the Pioneer Printing Company. High on life, New York City, and Monica, the girl of his dreams, he gets so carried away with his pitches that he begins to believe them himself. Out on the hustle for new accounts he meets Buck Brody, an aging, larger-than-life Southerner who could sell a dog a hind pocket. Together they dream up a scheme that looks like big bucks but turns into a fiasco. Joe's out of a job if he doesn't get Pioneer's investment back, but Buck's skipped south to the old mud-circus world that spawned him. Joe and Monica head south, too, and finally track down Buck--now Buck Mozingo--with the Great Mozingo-Arlo Waters Jubilee Crusade and Famous Life of Christ Show, a surefire blueprint for disaster peopled with bizarre Bible Belt crazies and smooth-talkers. Buck and Joe sell and resell anyone and anything, including themselves, on a mad rush to one of the great surprise endings of all time. Life along the Dixiana Highway is wild and wondrous, and sells you everything from games to packages to dreams.
