Illustrated baby blue hardboard with multicolored text on front. 352 pp Light overall wear, pages clean and bright, no internal markings, the spine shows light sunwear, a few dust marks on top edge, else Very Good condition. There is a confederate flag in the two photos inner back board with the caption underneath that reads, DAMN THE REST, WE'RE THE BEST, GOLDEN ARROW ." OLD TIME'S THERE ARE NOT FORGOTTEN." measures 11 " by 8 3/4 . Includes histories of the various infantry divisions. =============== During 1952 & 1953 major units stationed at fort Carson included the 5022 ASU Special Troops, 40th Field Artillery Group, 11th Armored Calvary, 313th Engineer Construction Group, U.S. Army Hospital, Mountain and Cold Weather Training Command, and the Army Dog Training Center. Early in 1954 the 11th Armored Calvary was ordered to move to Ft. Knox, Kentucky, along with the 547th Field Artillary Battalion which went to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. With the closing of Camp Atterbury, Indiana, due to an economy move, the 31st Infantry "Dixie " Division was transferred by rail, truck, and private auto to Fort Carson. Maj. General Harry J. Collins, commander of the 31st, was made commander of Fort Carson, replacing Brig. General Keyser, who retired. Re-designation ceremonies on 15 June 1954 converted the 31st Division, to the 8th Infantry "Golden Arrow " Division. The 8th's colors were moved to Carson from its former home , Ft, Jackson, South Carolin, and those of the 31st was returned to National Guard status in Mississippi and Alabama. ********************* This yearbook is from that time in History, has hundred's of photo's of servicemen,and according to the statement inside is "In recognition of more than thirty-seven years as an outstanding soldier of the United States Army, this review is respectfully dedicated to Maj.
