This German army general saw significant action in World War One, losing his left arm in the process; raised through the ranks to colonel, his Third Infantry Regiment took part in the invasion of Poland and France in 1939; promoted to Generalmajor, he was given command of the 16th Infantry Division and shortly after the 16th Panzer Division; his distinguished World War Two career on the Western and Eastern fronts, which included earning the highest level of the Knight's Cross, ended with a plane crash at Salzburg. DS, 1p, 8¼" X 11½", n.p., 1941 January 30. Very good. Two-punched at left margin (not affecting text), with staple holes; single faint horizontal fold. Typed form, entirely in German, of an "Verleihungsliste Nr. 2," a form he signs as major general of the 16th Panzer Division, authorizing the bestowing of awards -- in this case, the second class level of a war merit cross awarded "mit Schwertern" (with swords), presumably a pair of crossed swords that appear on this medal. Hube's usual enormous signature (simply "Hube") appears in blue indelible pencil near the bottom. Typed chart on verso seems to indicate this award may have been awarded to a field postmaster named Wilhelm Schroder. A choice war-date example. Bookseller Inventory # 37959
