President John Tyler's son served in the Mexican War and later as Register of the Treasury of the Confederate States of America. DS, 1p, 11" X 9", Richmond, VA, 1864 September 2. Very good. Minor age toning; small mounting trace on verso. "Four Per Cent Registered Bond," a picturesque Confederate bond made out for five hundred dollars and boldly signed by Tyler as Register of the Treasury.
