Barnitz, who as a patriotic 18-year-old joined the Revolutionary army, was mistreated by the British while a wounded prisoner of war and subsequently suffered medical issues resulting in the amputation of his leg 23 years later. Here he requests compensation from the government for the expense of his ongoing care; several physicians and fellow soldiers attach their testimony. 8vo. 11, [1] pp. Shaw & Shoemaker 18878. Removed from a nonce volume. Age-toned, title-page with small spots of light foxing. Bookseller Inventory # 30264
