First Edition, First Printing with color lithographic frontispiece of painting of Indian shooting a buffalo with bow & arrow by *Seward , "with Apologies to Paul Gregg," *noted on lower right corner. All our books are triple wrapped or boxed, never shipped "naked" in a mylar bag! Green cloth, gilt-stamped lettering & illustration of Indian Tomahawk, head- and foot rules on spine, black-stamped lettering with black- and red-stamped illustration of Indian chief in war bonnet & buffalo on front, 344pp plus 43 full page B&W plates portraying prominent building of the city, the citizens (including a very early photograph of Bat Masterson), and "The Seven Old Timers of Dodge City", the cowboys, the ranchers, the settlers with some of their sod homesteads, the Indians, the surrounding Kansas plains area mostly with impressive early photographs and a few sketches and drawings. Preface by N. B. Klaine. Boards are starting. All gilt exists on spine, with only the bottom rules starting to fade. Spine and board edges show some rubbing and corners lightly bumped. Some fading on edges, front board, and rear board. Full page photograph of R. M. Wright and Son, with Wright Park in background, following the title page. All plates are clean and bright, as is text.
