Small octavo in limp ribbed green cloth lettered in gilt. "New Edition" stated on the title page. 120 pp. + 18 pp. publisher's catalog at rear. Covers well rubbed, rounded at the extremities and with small arear of chipping aprox. 1" from the head. Presentation inscriptions and signatures, all dated 1889, on the two front blanks and top edge of the title page. Occasional staining to the text, mostly in the margins. From the preface: "The design of [this] little book is to furnish receipts for a select variety of French dishes, explained and described in such a manner as to make them intelligible to American cooks, and practicable with American utensils and American fuel.".
