When returning to England she wrote an account of her travels in the United States. Traveling from New Orleans up the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, to Baltimore, the City of Washington and northern Virginia, Philadelphia, New York, up the Hudson River to Niagara before returning to New York and back to England. While describing her travels she extensively comments on the domestic manners of Americans showing them in not too kind of a light. This is her most famous work.
