Ciascuna opera con antiporta disegnato da Hayez e finemente inciso in rame da Gandini, tranne per quello per il Guglielmo Tell che � inciso da Caterina Piotti Pirola; una vignetta ad ogni frontespizio sempre disegnata da Hayez ed incisa in rame da Sacchi il primo e da Ratti e Achille gli ultimi due. Testi interamente inquadrati da eleganti cornici ornate, graziosi testatine, capilettera e finalini. Belle ed accurate traduzioni in lingua italiana delle opere del grande drammaturgo tedesco a cura di�Andrea Maffei (1798-1885), librettista e drammaturgo, a cui va il merito di aver contribuito a far conoscere e gustare agli Italiani molti capolavori della lirica transalpina.
