Book Description Dodd, Mead and Company, Inc., 1940. Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Don Watson Starts His Band was written by George T. Simon and has a Foreword by Benny Goodman. The book was published by Dodd, Mead and Company, Inc. in 1940 and appears to be a First Edition but is not specifically stated as such. It's an ex-library copy and only in good condition with library markings, library wear including occasional soiling (very little in this book) where little hands may have not been completely clean when turning the page. I guess this indicates the book was popular . . . and does add a touch of nostalgia. It has no dust jacket, and has been rebound by the library in nice, sturdy boards. The book is 5 5/8" by 8 1/4" and has 303 pages with a Table of Contents and Goodman's Foreword. "Don Watson starts his dance orchestra in high school, and, like many another young maestro, slyly suspects his band will knock the swing world for a loop in a year or so. He soon discovers, however, that playing dance music for the cold world is far more difficult than for a friendly high school audience." This is a somewhat rare book. It is definitely NOT pristine. It is, still, a quite readable nice copy that, apparently, is a sort of cult-classic in its own way. Thank you!. Seller Inventory # 007688

Book Description Dodd Mead and Co., New York, 1940. Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Second Printing. A lovely copy of the second printing of this nice jazz collectible. There are no markings and no inscriptions, the book in fact does not appear to have been read, and the only flaw is mild age-toning of the pages, which would be true of all copies. The endpapers are the darkest; the pages of the text are a quite attractive creamy beige. The jacket is intact, with a bit of soiling, and a small piece missing at the top of the spine. A mylar Brodart cover now protects it. Seller Inventory # 26462
