About this title

Synopsis:

Doris Kloster is one of the world’s leading fetish photographers. Unlike the work of most of her contemporaries in this field who specialize in photographing fetish and fashion models in artificial studio settings, her work shows the secret real-life decadent world of dominance and submission. The previously unpublished color, duotone, and black-and-white photographs presented in Fetish World were shot on location in many private dungeons and provide an unforgettable insider’s view of dominatrixes and their slaves in full costume and highlighting their use of sexual props and positions.

About the Author:

Artist and alternative journalist Doris Kloster has been a freelance photographer since 1983, shooting editorial features, print advertising, record albums and book covers in London, Paris, Milan and New York. She has been featured in and curated art gallery exhibitions in New York, Berlin, Boston, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles. Kloster's second book of photographs, Forms of Desire, was published by St Martin's Press in 1998. A self-titled book of her photographs was published in 1995 by Taschen Verlag. Work of hers was included in the catalogue for the 1995 Centre Georges Pompidou exhibition Femininmasculin, Le Sexe de L'Art, in Paris, France, and also appeared in The Prehistory of Sex: Four Million Years of Human Sexual Culture by Dr Tim Taylor (Bantam Books/Fourth Estate). Kloster is cofounder and executive editor of FAD magazine, a large-format chronicle of contemporary culture. She hosted a television version of FAD, Doris's Demimonde, on Manhattan cable television and has been profiled on the HBO television series Real Sex. Kloster teaches photography at New York City's New School for Social Research.
