About this Item

Second Impression: Maroon boards with gilt lettering to spine. Condition is good but spine is sunned and there is a small piece missing from the bottom. There is a small amount of staining on the front board. Some spotting on the front endpaper and to page edges, 422 pages including index. There are 50 illustrations included, many black and white photographs, and there are some line drawings. This book is divided into three parts. The first gives a general view of what is called the 'Neolithic' period in England as centred on Avebury. The second part examines the life of this archaic civilization as testified by certain of its works in England, etc, and the third and last part is chiefly devoted to the aftermath of degeneration , artistic, political and psychological. Here again the conditions both of England and the East and of both primitive and modern man are reviewed. An impressive work. Approx size 9 ins X 6ins. Bookseller Inventory # 12855
