About the Author:

George Sibley has lived in the Upper Gunnison River valley of Colorado for most of the past 40 years. His most recent book is Dragons in Paradise, a collection of essays about contemporary life from a mountain perspective. Prior to that, Crown published Part of a Winter; about Colorado mountain towns; he has also authored three short history books on Gunnison River Basin communities. His essays and articles have appeared in nationally distributed publications like Harper s Magazine, Technology Illustrated, High Country News, New Age Journal and Old West; regional publications like Colorado Central and Mountain Gazette; and local publications in the Upper Gunnison valley. He is currently at work on a history of the Colorado River Water Conservation District in western Colorado.
