About this Item

Cloth. Fine. Later Edition. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. A splendid early Ellery Queen, this one from Grosset & Dunlap. Shortly after the 1939 Stokes first edition (very rare). Tight and firm brown/black boards are clean and sharp, with very little shelfwear. 325 tight, firm, clean browned (but supple) pages. Dj is complete but only fair - nicks and chips, especially top & bottom spine. Not priceclipped; where the price should be, at the top of the front foldover, it says "madison square". A red imprimatur about how this is the complete reprint, on the front foldover. "Six months after paying Ellery a handsome retainer, a retired munitions magante, worth many millions, dies on his yacht in the Caribbean. Peculiar Circumstances! An important man is quickly buried at sea with no medical certificate and no autopsy. Crew quickly dispersed before they can be questioned!! Only Ellery's diamond sharp wits could cut through the web of tangled events and arrive at the dramatic solution!! What a plot! It's a beautiful item from 60 years ago!! Don't let this one get by you!!. Bookseller Inventory # 000121
