201 pages; cream cloth boards with gilt spine and front titles, gilt portrait to front; attached to front pastedown is the bookplate of Edwin C. Jellet, an engineer and amateur botanist known for his authorship of works on the Germantown, Pennsylvania area, Jellet has also signed the front free endpaper ("Edwin C. Jellet, Germantown, Pa."); black & white frontispiece portrait of author by J. A. M. Whistler, which also appears to be accompanied by his hand drawn monogram signature, a stylized butterfly; signed by author\actor to limitation page, this being copy #105 of 300; tipped in here are 2 black & white portraits of Irving, 1 of which appears to have also been signed, and 1 cut from a magazine; affixed to the verso of the contents page is another portrait, with yet another tipped-in and signed black & white portrait of Irving, also cut from a magazine; laid in to rear is a newspaper account of the passing of Irving from the Philadelphia Public Ledger, dated 10/14/1905; some soiling to very light-colored boards, with more darkening to spine area and some softening to head and tail of spine, but little wear to extremities, upper corners only slightly bumped; discoloration to front and rear endpapers, likely from laid-in newspaper, which has been moved from front to rear; foxing scattered throughout interior, but otherwise bright; a very good copy; lovely, tight example of this signed, limited edition collection of addresses by the renowned Victorian era English actor, the first of his profession to be knighted.
