About this title

Synopsis:

Adam loves baseball, bugs, and living in the city. A little boy with big dreams, he loves spending time with his family, and making wishes on clouds. When his mother dies suddenly, his whole world changes-will the clouds be big enough to hold his wishes now? This beautifully illustrated resource offers a child's perspective into the grief experience. Answers the call for more diverse resources to be available for children of color, this book is sensitively written, has a poetic narrative, and contains beautiful paintings. Appropriate for young readers ages 6-11.

About the Author:

Alesia K. Alexander Layne, MSW, LCSW is a cloud dreamer, momprenuer, and the founder and Executive Director of Project KARMA, Inc. Project KARMA, Inc. is a non-profit organization created to support at risk young people facing loss and possible gang involvement. Mrs. Alexander Layne is the author of two other resources for grieving children. Her first book, Sunflowers & Rainbows for Tia Saying Goodbye to Daddy (1999), reflects the African American grief experience as seen through the eyes of a little girl. Her second book, Un Mural Para Mamita/A Mural for Mamita (2002), is the bilingual story of a little girl who wants to find a way to honor the memory of her grandmother with her community. She lives with her family, and a frisky red and blue Betta named RojaAzul in Atlanta, GA.
