About this title

Struggling to manage her anxiety, Amy tries a radical new drug that opens her mind with wild dreams. Each dream represents one of her personal phobias. What she sees terrifies her, but she must know more.

As she discovers repressed memories in her subconscious mind, Amy realises that someone is trying to prevent her from remembering her past. As her mind awakens, forces ally against Amy to keep a horrific crime buried deep.

Can Amy uncover the truth before her fear of dying becomes reality?

The story of Dreamlike is continued in The Secret Patient.

From the Author:

Dreamlike was my second novel, which I wrote predominantly duringNanoWriMo. I 'won' by writing over 50,000 words in the month ofNovember. Which was a great effort, considering the years I spentwriting on and off for my first book.

The concept for Dreamlike came to me one day when I was thinkingabout people and their fears. There didn't seem to be a good way toreally overcome those fears, just time and facing them. So I thought tomyself - what if there was a pill for that? Many fears are potentiallydangerous to confront head on, so dreams seemed like a good approach. Ashortcut even!

But of course I couldn't leave the premise at that, there had to be a consequence for the shortcut. A side effect. And my interest inmysteries and uncovering the truth wormed its way in and added a nicethread to tie everything together.

This book started with such a simple concept. I enjoyed the process, writing daily and keeping the narrative flowing. The more I got into the story, the more specialit became. It took on a life greater than just a concept, and at the end of that month of writing I discovered a new ending for the book.
