About this title

THE DROPAS: Breaking Through The Walls is the first book in the initial Dropas trilogy, and a story that can be enjoyed by children, both young and old, as well as adults. People nine years old and up have already started their journey with the Dropas. Although a fun and enjoyable fantasy adventure, Book I's underlying messages focus on unity, perseverance, and preserving the most important thing in life, our humanity. And until we begin to understand people's differences rather than building walls between ourselves, the existence of humanity will always remain in jeopardy.

Book I is a story of the mind and how we, as humans, create barriers between ourselves; racial, religious, cultural, emotional, etc. This only hinders our ability to work together as a species. But, just as the mind is responsible for building those barriers, it is also the important element needed to break through them. As these walls are broken, we are also reminded about the importance of the immaterial things in life.

Arriving in our world on a mission to help humans preserve their existence are twelve unique creatures. Although their actions are with a purpose, they also demonstrate the lighter side of life. The whimsical Dropas show us that no matter our age, we should never forget about the child that exists in all of us. We are constantly reminded of this as the Dropas engage themselves in numerous mischievous acts when not helping fight against the Evil Lord Ozone.

All in all, THE DROPAS: Breaking Through The Walls, is an enjoyable journey that will allow expansion of our imagination while leaving us with positive messages applicable to our own life's journey.

From the Author:

I have set many goals in my life, admittedly, one was not to write a novel. This is an example of the power and fulfillment of inspiration. In the Fall of 1993, the creation of the Dropas was just a form of stress release for Timm and myself as we joked about antics the Dropas might engage themselves in during certain situations. For the six months that followed, my imagination erupted with a journey for which these characters would embark. Passing it off as more creativity to fill up conversation was no longer satisfying. I began writing down my ideas for this story and could not avoid the inevitable; the creation of the Dropas, the development of the other characters' personalities, and finally, the completion of this book.

While writing the first book in the Dropa series, I decided that I wanted to reach as large an audience as possible. Having talked with numerous people in this wide range who have read the story, I have accomplished my goal. The story, therefore, can be read by children (as young as the fourth grade and who are active readers), as well as adults. Children who read the book typically focused on the adventure itself, while adults focused not only on the adventure, but also on the symbolism and subtle meanings. But, no matter the age, they all loved the Dropas and had fun reading the story.

I am now in the process of co-producing (with my brother Timm) a soundtrack to supplement the story. We are working with Cedric Hurst II, a young and extremely gifted musician who is composing the musical selections. I anticipate a release date of April 2000. Keep an eye out for it in the music department. I have also begun writing the second book in the series, but have not yet targeted a release date.
