About this Item

Not a book but a 10-inch, 33-11/3 rpm Long Play (mono, monaural) vinyl record, RCA Victor Long Play LPT-3017, with red type on a silver label, near-mint vinyl in a very-good-plus cardboard jacket with some age-browning to edges of rear panel. The "Popular Collector's Issue" designation indicates the recording quality here is "not representative of RCA Victor's present day (1950s) high quality standards," meaning these tracks have been reissued, having been recorded in March and October, 1940, for initial release on 78 rpm shellac. Features Cootie Williams on trumpet, Barney Bigard on Clarinet, Ben Webster of saxophone, Johnny Hodges on alto sax, Jimmy Blanton on bass, and Juan Tizol, Lawrence Brown and Joseph "Tricky Sam" Nanton on trombones. Includes "Do Nothin' Till You Hear from Me," "Warm Valley," etc. Catalogs $100; here reduced from $45. Bookseller Inventory # 004554
